Laser Hair Removal

Excess and unwanted hair is a common problem affecting an estimated eighty million people in America. Traditional remedies such as shaving, waxing, tweezing, and electrolysis can be painful, time-consuming and only temporary. Advanced Laser and Skin Clinic of Tacoma offers a better solution. Our state-of-the-art lasers provide a gentle, non-evasive and long-lasting solution to unwanted hair. The length of each treatment and number of treatments required can vary depending on the area to be treated, hair type, and skin type. The LightSheerâ„¢ Diode laser is specifically designed for hair removal and provides safety, superior results and the highest patient satisfaction. We have chosen this laser because of the extensive clinical research which demonstrates its effectiveness for permanent hair reduction. Other laser hair removal systems that we have investigated cannot make this claim. We've used the LightSheerâ„¢ Diode for hundreds of thousands of treatments, so we know it works and provides the kind of long term results that our patients have come to expect from Advanced Laser Clinics.

Facial Laser Hair Removal

Excess and unwanted hair can be found all over the body, but can be most irritating on the face as it is exposed year-round under all conditions. Facial laser hair removal can solve this annoyance while at the same time eliminating the other painful temporary methods.

Scientific Evidence
A clinical study evaluated the use of the LightSheerâ„¢ diode laser for hair removal. Of 92 patients all had temporary hair loss and 89% had long-term hair loss. Regrown hairs were shown to be thinner and lighter than previously observed. The Diode Laser causes permanent hair reduction without damaging the epidermis, regardless of skin type.

Hair Physiology
Hair is in one of three stages of growth at any given time; Anagen, Catagen or Telogen. Hair's active growth phase is called Anagen. During Anagen, the hair contains an abundance of melanin. Catagen is the regression phase when the lower part of the hair stops growing but is not shed, and the follicle is reabsorbed. The resting phase is called Telogen, during which the old hair falls out in preparation for the development of new hair. The laser treatments are most effective when the hair is in the active or Anagen phase when melanin, the target of the laser light, is abundant.
