Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal involves treating hair follicles with precise laser light energy that inhibits further hair growth. This leaves the skin smooth and hair free.

As performed by Cascade's dermatology staff for patients from Olympia, University Place / Tacoma, Puyallup, and surrounding areas, laser hair removal is uniquely effective compared to shaving, tweezing, and other temporary hair removal strategies. The real advantage of the procedure is its high degree of precision and safety. Dark objects absorb light more than light objects. Since hair is darker than skin, energy is absorbed primarily by the hair, leaving surrounding skin unaffected. A series of treatments is necessary for laser hair removal to be maximally effective.

Because darker materials absorb more light, laser hair removal works best with dark, thick hair and pale skin. Laser hair removal is still possible for patients with dark skin or light hair. Light hair usually requires more treatments to achieve good results.
