Why Mill Creek Skin & Laser?
Award-Winning Technology - The revolutionary Cynosure Elite aesthetic laser is a comprehensive hair removal system, removing unwanted hair and maintaining client comfort. This innovative new laser combines two different wavelengths in one system, allowing us to target and remove hair on any type of skin, on virtually any part of the body. The Elite was chosen as the #1 choice for hair removal on all skin types by Aesthetic Trends + Technologies.
SmartCool® Cooling System - At Mill Creek Skin & Laser, client comfort is one of our top priorities. Our laser hair removal treatments incorporate the SmartCool® cooling system in order to maximize client comfort and minimize side effects. SmartCool® provides a continuous flow of chilled air that protects the tissue and skin.
How does laser hair removal work?
The Elite aesthetic laser combines two different and very powerful laser wavelengths that attack the hair follicle and completely destroy it – making hair regrowth in the targeted area impossible.
Unlike electrolysis, which involves injecting a needle into each and every hair follicle, the Elite laser emits a powerful beam of light that passes through the skin and targets many follicles at once.
This means instead of spending months or even years getting electrolysis treatments, patients can now permanently solve their unwanted hair problems in significantly less time. Laser hair removal treatments are faster, safer and more effective.
How many treatments are required?
The number of treatments is generally determined by the amount of hair, phase of hair growth, area of the body, skin color, hair color and coarseness. Generally, we recommend 4 – 8 treatments at 4 to 6 week intervals between treatments.
Does it hurt?
When being treated with the Eliteâ„¢ Aesthetic Laser, you may experience a slight prickly or light stinging sensation. Remember that everyone is different and what one person considers bothersome another may not mind at all. It all depends on individual sensitivity or tolerance to the stimulation. Most people tolerate the treatment just fine.
Are there any side effects?
After the treatment, redness and some slight swelling may occur, typically lasting anywhere from 12 hours to 48 hours.
Pre-Treatment
* Limit any alcohol and caffeine consumption for 3 days before and after treatments.
* Avoid non-steroid, anti-inflammatory medicines (Motrin, Aspirin or Aleve) 3-7 days before treatment.
* Avoid as much sun exposure as possible. A minimum SPF30 sun block (UVA/UVB) should be used for any sun exposure during your treatments.
o We cannot treat sun tanned or self tanner/spray tanned skin
o Must wait 2–3 weeks until tan coloring fades
* No tweezing, waxing or depilatories 3 weeks prior to treatment.
* Shave the area that is going to be treated the night prior to treatment.
* Makeup, lotion and deodorants must be removed prior to treatment.
Post-Treatment
After laser hair removal, you may experience a slight sunburned or “razor-burned†feeling on the treated areas. This may last several hours. Apply cool compresses to the area for 10-15 minutes each hour for four or five hours if desired.
Keep the area clean with gentle washing two times a day with a mild soap. Follow with a light application of aloe gel if desired. Do not use glycolic products, exfoliation products or Retin-A for at least 4-5 days following your treatment
You will notice some singed hairs and hairs that are working up out of the follicle. This is the shedding process that takes place after the laser treatment, and may last more than two weeks. You may shave the area until the dark hairs have been shed.
Use sun protection with a SPF 30 or greater prior to going outdoors for at least six weeks after each treatment. Sunblock is preferred to sunscreen.
